About the position

The Assistant Athletics Director of Video & Creative Strategy at Dartmouth College is a pivotal role within the Athletics and Recreation Department (DCARD), responsible for executing a comprehensive visual storytelling strategy that enhances the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, boosts fan engagement, and promotes DCARD competitions. This position reports to the Associate Athletics Director for Media Strategy and Brand Advancement and emphasizes high-quality video storytelling and other visual content creation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in creative content production, cinematic video content, digital media, and team management, making them a visionary leader in the field. In this role, the Assistant Athletics Director will develop and implement a 12-month creative storytelling strategy that aligns with the overall goals and brand of the Athletics Department. They will direct the creation and execution of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and photography for various digital platforms. The position requires the creation of a wide array of videos, such as highlight packages, behind-the-scenes features, and student-athlete profiles, all aimed at crafting compelling narratives through multimedia. The Assistant Athletics Director will also be responsible for educating and managing coaches, staff, and student-athletes on the Digital Asset Management platform and coordinating the production and execution of content for game day coverage and promotional campaigns. Staying current with industry trends and best practices is essential to ensure innovative and effective content production. The role also involves leading and developing a full-time creative content team, collaborating with various stakeholders, and managing the creative content budget to ensure efficient resource use.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive creative storytelling strategy for Dartmouth Athletics.
  • Direct the creation and execution of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and photography.
  • Create a variety of videos, including highlight packages, behind-the-scenes features, and student-athlete profiles.
  • Educate and manage coaches, staff, and student-athletes on the Digital Asset Management platform.
  • Coordinate the production and execution of content for game day coverage and promotional campaigns.
  • Produce high-quality, cinematic video content for promotional and marketing purposes.
  • Stay current with industry trends to ensure innovative content production.
  • Lead and manage the creative content team and oversee student creative staff.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to gather content ideas and provide creative support.
  • Utilize analytics tools to measure content effectiveness and refine strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in sport marketing, sport management, athletic administration, communications, Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • 6 or more years of relevant experience in creative content production and digital media.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects, etc.).
  • Exceptional storytelling and visual communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of sports and the ability to anticipate and capture key moments.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing a creative team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-2 years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Two or more years of experience with an NCAA college athletic program.
  • Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to content and communications.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and Ivy League rules and regulations.
