About the position

The Assistant Attorney General in the Public Integrity Bureau of the Illinois Attorney General's Office is responsible for prosecuting public corruption cases across Illinois. This role involves handling cases from intake through sentencing, providing legal advice to law enforcement, and directing grand jury investigations. The position requires a strong understanding of criminal law, particularly in relation to white-collar crime, and emphasizes teamwork and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Handle cases throughout Illinois as vertical prosecutions from intake through sentencing.
  • Evaluate cases and provide legal advice and assistance to law enforcement during investigations.
  • Initiate charges and litigate motions, trials, sentencing hearings, and post-trial motions.
  • Direct grand jury investigations and litigate grand jury matters.
  • Draft complaints and obtain search warrants and overhear orders.

Requirements

  • Must be an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois at the time of application.
  • Knowledge of the principles of criminal law, particularly related to white-collar crime.
  • A minimum of 3 years of trial experience, preferably involving investigations and trials of white-collar crimes.
  • Ability to work well with others and contribute as a team member.

Benefits

  • Salary commensurate with the number of years as a licensed attorney starting at $81,000.
