About the position

The Assistant Bakery Manager is responsible for leading the bakery team to enhance customer shopping experiences while promoting company growth. This role involves supporting the Bakery Manager in coaching team members, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and maintaining high standards of product quality and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the manager-in-charge of the bakery in the absence of the Bakery Manager.
  • Support the Bakery Manager in coaching, corrective actions, and performance evaluations.
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere with high morale and cooperation.
  • Supervise bakery team activities to ensure operational effectiveness and motivation.
  • Promote ads and specials to increase department sales and profits.
  • Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.
  • Implement Cosentino Customer Service Standards.
  • Answer customer questions accurately and courteously about bakery items.
  • Manage inventory effectively by counting and verifying merchandise against invoices.
  • Ensure compliance with health regulations, sanitation guidelines, and safety procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness, stock levels, and creative merchandising in the department.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain bakery equipment safely and competently.
  • Assist in hiring quality candidates for the bakery team.
  • Create schedules that balance customer service needs with labor costs.
  • Address employee relations issues and communicate with the Human Resource team as needed.
  • Promote department sales through customer engagement and visually appealing displays.
  • Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve management when necessary.
  • Prepare, package, and label products efficiently for sale.
  • Unload incoming shipments and stock items neatly in designated areas.
  • Complete additional tasks as identified by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months previous experience in a deli, bakery, restaurant, or food service operations position is required.
  • A food handling permit must be obtained within the first 14 days of employment.
  • Completion of ongoing training and development as listed on the Cosentino Learning Plan.

Nice-to-haves

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
