About the position

The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) at Provident Bank is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a retail branch, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and providing leadership to the branch team. The ABM plays a crucial role in achieving branch objectives, enhancing customer relationships, and fostering a collaborative team environment. This position requires a strong understanding of banking operations and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day team leadership and work direction to ensure effective delivery of personalized service and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Manage branch operations, including teller activities and customer escalations.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in directing activities to meet branch sales goals and objectives, coaching team members to develop a needs-based sales environment.
  • Monitor branch activities to ensure compliance with bank policies and maintain operational integrity.
  • Drive exceptional customer experience validated by customer satisfaction surveys.
  • Assist in meeting staffing requirements and managing PTO requests.
  • Perform special projects requiring research, analysis, and report writing.
  • Conduct ongoing performance management and mentoring of direct reports.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities including hiring, training, and performance appraisal.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years related experience and/or training
  • Strong leadership skills to support a team environment
  • Professional and positive image with excellent communication skills
  • Basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with digital technologies and applications
  • Ability to discuss and recommend bank products based on customer needs
  • Highly organized with critical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to meet sales targets and coach team members
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Sound risk management skills
