About the position

The Assistant Branch Manager position at a License Branch within the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is a pivotal role that supports the Branch Manager in overseeing and executing all aspects of branch operations. This position is designed for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and highly stimulated environment, where they will play a crucial role in ensuring that the licensing needs of customers are met in a timely, safe, and secure manner. The Assistant Branch Manager will assist in ensuring staff compliance with all agency policies and procedures, as well as state laws, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the BMV to provide best-in-class driver and vehicle services to all Hoosiers. In this role, the Assistant Branch Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the branch, which includes conducting meetings with branch staff, assisting leadership with scheduling, and managing the daily opening and closing of the branch. They will also be tasked with completing weekly reports and maintaining daily records for all balances and deposits. A significant aspect of this role involves aiding leadership in the resolution of escalated customer complaints, ensuring that customer service remains a top priority. Additionally, the Assistant Branch Manager will partner with the Branch Manager and HR staff to ensure that training, development, evaluation, and discipline of employees are conducted in accordance with established policies. Monitoring BMV inventory and office supplies will also be part of their responsibilities. This position is not only about managing operations but also about investing in employees and engaging customers, which aligns with the BMV's commitment to fostering an environment of product innovation and sustainable systems. The Assistant Branch Manager will report directly to the Branch Manager and may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs, making this a dynamic and impactful role within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the branch's daily operations.
  • Conduct meetings with branch staff.
  • Assist leadership with scheduling for the branch.

  • Complete weekly reports.

  • Aid leadership in the resolution of escalated customer complaints.

  • Monitor BMV inventory and office supplies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a manager in a service industry.
  • Ability to communicate exceptionally with all variety of employees and customers.
  • Experience with writing reports and presenting.
  • A high level of critical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot.
  • A drive to assist with the training and development of BMV employees.
