About the position

The Assistant Branch Manager for Workers' Compensation Underwriting at ICW Group is responsible for supporting the Branch Manager in managing the functions and technical products of the branch. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies while driving profitability, growth, and brand strength. The position involves strategic oversight of underwriting activities, sales goals, and team development, with a strong emphasis on enhancing the overall insurance experience for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and branch operational goals in partnership with the Branch Manager.
  • Develop programs to promote new products and reposition existing products.
  • Maintain knowledge of the geographic territory regarding production sources and competitor activity.
  • Manage marketing research to identify opportunities for management and product enhancements.
  • Leverage industry information to enhance team member production and branch operations.
  • Monitor WCIRB/NCCI rulings and coverage changes.
  • Educate self and team on industry-related changes and trends.
  • Develop business acumen in leadership skills and sales techniques.
  • Direct activities related to industry affairs and trade show events.
  • Underwrite assigned accounts and manage a profitable book of business.
  • Utilize high-level underwriting authority to price products effectively.
  • Sell, service, and maintain a profitable producer force.
  • Prospect and develop new business opportunities.
  • Develop and lead a team of Branch WCU professionals.
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction to the Branch Underwriting team.
  • Establish and maintain work cadence and performance expectations for the team.
  • Oversee performance management and development processes for team members.
  • Act as a resource for team members to solve complex problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in insurance underwriting.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of business operations management experience in the property casualty insurance industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation underwriting operations.
  • Extensive experience providing superior customer service and presenting product-related information.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with sales or training preferred.
