About the position

The position involves collaborating with the Branch Manager to oversee the functions and technical products of a specific Workers' Compensation underwriting branch. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies while driving profitability, growth, and brand strength through effective underwriting practices and team management.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and branch operational goals in partnership with the Branch Manager.
  • Develop programs to promote new products and reposition existing products.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the assigned geographic territory regarding production sources and competitor activity.
  • Manage marketing research to identify opportunities for product enhancements and new distribution channels.
  • Educate self and team on industry-related changes and trends.
  • Direct activities related to industry affairs and trade show events.
  • Underwrite assigned branch team members' Worker's Compensation accounts and manage a profitable book of business.
  • Sell, service, and maintain a producer force to control a profitable and growing book of business.
  • Prospect and develop new business opportunities.
  • Develop and lead a team of Branch WCU professionals.
  • Communicate organizational mission and values to team members.
  • Establish and maintain overall work cadence and ensure performance excellence.
  • Ensure team engagement and adherence to hiring and training requirements.
  • Oversee performance management and development processes for team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in insurance underwriting.
  • 1-2 years of business operations management experience in the property casualty insurance industry preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation underwriting operations.
  • Extensive experience in customer service and product presentation.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical journals and financial reports.

  • Familiarity with sales or training preferred.
