About the position

The Assistant Branch Manager at VyStar Credit Union plays a crucial role in fostering a high-performance culture within the branch. This position is responsible for coaching, developing, and leading branch employees to achieve individual, branch, and organizational growth goals while delivering exceptional member service experiences and maintaining operational excellence. The Assistant Branch Manager collaborates closely with the Branch Vice President to create, implement, and maintain branch strategies that align with VyStar's objectives in a fast-paced environment. This includes developing and implementing tactical plans and establishing objectives for the branch, which are documented in the annual business plan. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Assistant Branch Manager is expected to maintain a high level of participation within the VyStar leadership team, promoting and supporting the decisions of the credit union and management. Building strong member and partner relationships is essential, as is engaging in community volunteer and leadership opportunities. The role requires a commitment to VyStar's Standards of Excellence and Behaviors of Excellence, ensuring that all employees embrace these principles to foster a culture of service and excellence. The Assistant Branch Manager will also be involved in training and developing staff for succession planning within the branch network and other lines of business. This includes working closely with Human Resources and Training to ensure that the recruiting and training curriculum is appropriate and provides a positive experience for VyStar employees. The position requires ongoing coaching for direct reports, conducting performance appraisals, and analyzing data to implement necessary staffing changes. Compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures is critical, as is adherence to solid risk management guidelines in a highly regulated environment. The Assistant Branch Manager must also exhibit integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism at all times, leading by example through community service and creating an inclusive environment where diversity is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Branch Vice President to ensure day-to-day branch operations result in exceptional service experiences for members.
  • Train, encourage, enable, and coach employees to embrace VyStar's Standards of Excellence and Member Service Commitments.
  • Model VyStar Excellence behaviors while performing job duties.
  • Develop staff for succession planning within the branch network and other lines of business.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Training to ensure appropriate recruiting and training curriculum.
  • Assist the BVP by partnering with internal departments for success.
  • Establish and validate performance objectives for the branch consistent with VyStar Excellence.
  • Provide ongoing coaching for direct reports, including evaluations and performance reviews.
  • Conduct daily team huddles and weekly sales meetings with training on products and services.
  • Prepare and administer performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Analyze data to determine and implement staffing changes as needed.
  • Support and participate in all Credit Union initiatives and campaigns.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures and perform audits.
  • Exhibit a high degree of integrity, trustworthiness, and professionalism at all times.
  • Work from home during branch closures, such as disaster recovery events.
  • Lead by example through community service supporting the VyStar brand.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive and professional environment where all team members are respected.
  • Support high school branch and Collegiate employees, including mentoring and training.
  • Resolve member concerns independently and escalate complex concerns as appropriate.
  • Provide counseling to members and employees on financial matters.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma/GED is required.
  • Associate's degree is preferred.
  • 3+ years in a customer service, sales, community service, military service, or leadership role is required.
  • 2 years' experience in a lead role within a financial institution is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
