About the position

The Assistant Business Office Manager at Indigo Manor Nursing and Rehab plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional patient financial experiences and managing patient inquiries. This position is integral to ensuring smooth operations within the business office of a skilled nursing facility, focusing on customer service, financial management, and effective communication with patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver an exceptional Patient Financial experience by receiving and directing patients professionally and courteously.
  • Manage a high volume of patient calls, answering inquiries and determining appropriate resolutions.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and expertise to patients, guarantors, and other contacts through oral and written communication.
  • Respond to and document all patient and internal inquiries regarding account information.
  • Understand and evaluate business processes and procedures for account resolution.
  • Read, interpret, and understand various insurance correspondence including coordination of benefits.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of varying reimbursement terms across multiple payers and benefit plan types.
  • Perform all clerical functions required to complete requests using available information and resources.
  • Coordinate to resolve issues requiring follow-up with appropriate teams, insurance companies, and other departments.
  • Daily reconciliation of patient accounting and report discrepancies immediately.
  • Support the facility with resident trust activity for banking purposes and monitor resident funds.

Requirements

  • Prior business office and/or skilled nursing experience.
  • Ability to make independent decisions when required.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and the general public.
  • Patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.
  • Knowledgeable about computer systems, system applications, and office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate policies, procedures, and regulations to various stakeholders.
