About the position

The Business Office Assistant at MediLodge of Portage plays a crucial role in providing administrative and clerical support to the Business Office. This position involves assisting with accounts payable and receivable, maintaining resident information, and performing various routine office duties. Responsibilities

  • Assist the Business Office Manager with accounts receivable (A/R) and accounts payable (A/P) functions.
  • Advise the Business Office Manager of pertinent business office operations.
  • Collect and file documents, correspondence, and other printed materials.
  • Create and update files and records using a PC or terminal.
  • Perform routine office duties such as assisting with mailings, answering telephones, and relaying messages.
  • Keep current all census and resident information.
  • Complete weekly discharge and admission reports.
  • Assist the Business Office Manager with month-end close processes.
  • Call for repair of business office equipment and order office supplies.
  • Type, file, and copy facility materials.
  • Accept and direct deliveries.
  • Attend and participate in in-service education and staff meetings.
  • Serve as evening receptionist and work every other weekend.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in an office environment.
  • Experience with accounts receivable preferred.
  • Knowledge of billing and collection practices and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
  • Skilled in the use of computers and the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Ability to be accurate, concise, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
