The Assistant Buyer at Five Below plays a crucial role in supporting the sales and profit plan for a specific merchandise area. This entry-level position involves executing a well-conceived merchandise strategy, managing product development, and ensuring effective communication with vendors and cross-functional teams. Responsibilities

  • Assist in delivering the sales and profit plan for a specific area through precise execution of merchandise strategy.
  • Run reports and analysis for the Buying team in a timely manner.
  • Suggest newness to add freshness to the assortment and propose category extensions for growth.
  • Manage purchase orders and track on-order items effectively.
  • Prepare for styleouts and walkthrus, ensuring all final samples are available.
  • Take ownership of sample management and relay design comments to vendors.
  • Aid in the development and assortment of specific classes and product lines.
  • Review packaging and verify testing with compliance, ensuring quality matches orders.
  • Create product briefs for new items and work with Product Development to execute them.
  • Execute competitive shop recaps and analysis to maintain market awareness.
  • Negotiate favorable costs, terms, and conditions with vendors in collaboration with the Buyer.
  • Manage the PO entry and revision process, ensuring timely approvals from cross-functional teams.
  • Utilize BI Reporting and IP to analyze selling and create necessary reports.
  • Manage shipment tracking and communicate issues between teams and vendors.
  • Develop relationships with cross-functional teams to aid in issue resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of evolving trends in merchandising.
  • Willingness to learn and embrace all aspects of merchandising.
  • Ability to absorb and learn in a quick-paced environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and computer skills.
  • Must be based in Philadelphia or willing to relocate.
