About The Position

The Assistant Cafe Manager at Bon Appétit is responsible for supporting the Cafe Manager in ensuring the overall success of the cafe operations. This role involves managing daily operations, adhering to health regulations, and maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation. The Assistant Cafe Manager will also focus on employee development, customer satisfaction, and workplace safety, while promoting a culture of sustainability and responsible food practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of applicable experience in a food service establishment.
  • Experience in restaurant, hotel, or events is a plus.
  • Ability to integrate diverse perspectives and experiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience managing in a Union environment is a plus.
  • ServSafe Certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a high-volume food service establishment.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Cafe Manager in managing daily operations of the cafe.
  • Ensure adherence to health department regulations and Compass standards.
  • Motivate and direct employees to meet operational objectives.
  • Manage workplace and food safety, including allergen management.
  • Set expectations for hospitality and engage with guests.
  • Upskill, train, and develop team members.
  • Monitor financial and budget responsibilities to maintain high standards.
  • Meet timelines for payroll, service, and human resources tasks.
  • Create a culture of food and workplace safety and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Participate in safety meetings and inspections.
  • Operate web-based ordering systems and process customer requests.
