About the position

The Assistant Cannabis Retail Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of a medical and adult-use cannabis dispensary. This position focuses on enhancing the guest experience, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations. The Assistant Manager collaborates closely with the Retail Manager to achieve operational goals and maintain high standards of service and presentation within the store.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and develop the guest experience in the dispensary.
  • Assist with overseeing daily operations and managing staff.
  • Communicate new product information and policy updates to floor staff.
  • Support staff in selling procedures and strategies to achieve sales goals.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local regulations in all daily actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of dispensary activities, including patron records and sales.
  • Ensure high standards of merchandising presentation and store cleanliness.
  • Identify and address sales and product discrepancies.
  • Troubleshoot computer and payment system issues on the sales floor.
  • Handle complex register transactions with accuracy and discretion.
  • Maintain and record all relevant paperwork, including opening and closing paperwork.
  • Account for daily payments accurately and prepare retail drawers for the next day.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints effectively.
  • Monitor situations to prevent loss or diversion of products.
  • Maintain regular and on-time attendance, working a flexible schedule as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience in retail or hospitality management is required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; bilingual in Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Mathematical aptitude and proficiency with POS systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a diverse customer base.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing 10+ employees per shift.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous industry experience in cannabis is valued.
  • Capability to work with translation apps as needed.
