About the position

The Assistant Chief Engineer at Naples Grande Beach Resort plays a crucial role in overseeing the maintenance and engineering operations of the hotel. This position involves managing routine maintenance, supervising staff, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards, and implementing energy management programs. The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall condition of the property and its systems, while also providing training and support to the engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns and verifies completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, outlets, back of the house spaces and grounds.
  • Hires, trains, supervises and coaches department staff and all other staff under direction of Property Engineering Operations, and Grounds Keepers.
  • Informs the Chief Engineer, and hotel department heads, on a regular basis, regarding the specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment offering prudent, and cost-effective proposals for maintaining same.
  • Maintains effective Energy Management and Preventive Maintenance programs, conducting special training for other operating departments on the safe and efficient use of equipment and energy in the hotel.
  • Oversee the implementation of all property and equipment repairs and preventative maintenance, monitor life safety systems.
  • Oversees and ensures that the administration of the department is in compliance with all corporate and brand standards and all federal, state and local laws.
  • Schedules staff to perform Preventative Maintenance Program and follows and enforces procedures that ensure the security of inventory such as tools, supplies, equipment, furniture, televisions.
  • Monitors work order volume and prioritizes assignments for team as necessary.
  • Inspects work assignments of maintenance staff to ensure that work is completed in a timely manner and within specifications.
  • Managing outside contractors.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in Hotel Engineering background preferred.
  • Experience with HotSOS, Opera, purchasing systems preferred.
  • Must have practical and theoretical skills in related areas.
  • Working knowledge of Steam Boilers, Chillers.
  • Skilled in the proper and safe use of all tools, equipment, materials, chemicals, and products.
  • Three years' experience in a facility/Hotel environment or mechanical engineering or the equivalent combination of education training and experience from which comparable skills and abilities may be acquired.
  • HAVC Certification, Electric Lic. Plumbing preferred.
  • Experienced in Safety, good leadership and problem-solving skills.
