The Assistant Chief Financial Analyst position is a pivotal role within the Financial Analysis Section (FAS) of the Financial Analysis & Receivership Division at the North Carolina Department of Insurance. This position is designed to assist the Chief Financial Analyst in managing and directing the operations of FAS, with a strong emphasis on the regulation of both domestic and foreign insurers operating within North Carolina. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing the procedures and systems that FAS utilizes to enforce the insurance laws of the state. This includes supervising a team of financial analysts, which consists of twenty professional staff members, and performing supervisory duties as delegated by the Chief Financial Analyst in their absence. In this role, the Assistant Chief Financial Analyst will have the opportunity to interact with individuals at all levels within insurance companies as well as within the Department of Insurance. The work is guided by state laws and regulations, departmental policies and procedures, and guidance provided by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. The position also offers a hybrid telework option, allowing for a combination of office and remote workdays, which reflects the department's trust in its employees to be self-motivated and successful in such roles.
