About the position

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer at Camden County College plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the college, ensuring accurate financial forecasting, budget preparation, and compliance with financial regulations. This position involves collaboration with various departments to support the college's strategic objectives and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining long-term financial forecasts for all college funds.
  • Monitor short and long-term financial and operational developments.
  • Manage auxiliary services including bookstore, cafeteria, and parking garage.
  • Conduct financial analysis of current and proposed activities to support strategic objectives.
  • Monitor the College's financial condition through analysis of financial transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements.
  • Review and verify financial documentation requiring signatures from senior officials.
  • Determine the cost effectiveness of current and proposed initiatives.
  • Prepare the annual budget by identifying organizational needs and obtaining consensus on priorities.
  • Participate in collective bargaining and negotiation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory, legal, and accounting standards.
  • Advocate for the College's interests and represent it to external groups.
  • Maintain relationships with federal, state, and local officials.
  • Develop a uniform cost analysis procedure for college projects and programs.
  • Assist with other college financial matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree strongly preferred in Accounting/Business Administration or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • Ten years work experience in Accounting/Auditing or related field.
  • Strong experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) within an institution of higher education.
  • At least six years of experience preparing budgets, preferably for an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with college faculty, staff, and administrators.
  • Experience in managing auxiliary services, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience in operational and strategic planning, policy development, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas in written and oral formats.
  • Exemplary work ethic and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and other specialized software.
