About the position

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) at Camden County College plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of the institution. This position involves preparing long-term financial forecasts, managing auxiliary services, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ACFO will collaborate with various departments to conduct financial analyses and assist in budget preparation, contributing to the college's strategic objectives and financial health.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining long-term financial forecasts for all college funds.
  • Monitor short and long-term financial and operational developments to ensure forecasts are current and accurate.
  • Manage auxiliary services including bookstore, cafeteria, and parking garage.
  • Contribute to the College meeting its strategic objectives by assisting in financial analysis of current and proposed activities.
  • Monitor the College's financial condition through analysis of financial transactions.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual audited financial statements.
  • Review and verify financial documentation requiring signatures from the President or Executive Director of Finance.
  • Determine the cost effectiveness of current and proposed initiatives.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget by identifying organizational needs and obtaining consensus on priorities.
  • Participate in and research data for collective bargaining/negotiation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulatory, legal, and accounting standards.
  • Advocate for the College's interests and represent the College in presentations to external groups.
  • Maintain relationships with federal, state, and local officials interfacing with the College.
  • Spearhead the development of a uniform cost analysis procedure for College projects and programs.
  • Assist with other College financials as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the Executive Director of Finance and Planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree strongly preferred in Accounting/Business Administration or related field.
  • CPA required.
  • Ten years work experience in Accounting/Auditing or related field.
  • Strong experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) within an institution of higher education.
  • At least six years of experience preparing budgets, preferably for an institution of higher education.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with college faculty, staff, administrators, and governing boards.
  • Experience in managing auxiliary services, preferably for an institution of higher education.
  • Experience in operational and strategic planning, policy development, and financial analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to various stakeholders.
  • Exemplary work ethic and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and other specialized software.
