About the position

The Assistant Chief Financial Officer (ACFO) is a pivotal role within HCA Healthcare, specifically at St. David's North Austin Medical Center. This position is designed to serve as a direct pathway to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role, emphasizing the importance of financial leadership in the healthcare sector. The ACFO will oversee the Financial Accounting and Reporting Department, ensuring that it operates efficiently and effectively to support the hospital's financial health. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare finance and its impact on both clinical and financial outcomes, as well as the ability to execute HCA Healthcare's capital asset management processes. In this capacity, the ACFO will also need to demonstrate knowledge of Health Information Management (HIM) and Case Management/Care Coordination functions, establishing expertise in productivity, staffing, and scheduling. A strong grasp of hospital accounting principles, internal control environments, and compliance requirements is essential. The ACFO will be expected to exhibit executive presence, showcasing the necessary temperament, competencies, and skills to navigate various situations effectively. This role is not only about managing finances but also about influencing the overall direction of the hospital's financial strategy and operations. The position is integral to the hospital's leadership team, contributing to the strategic planning and decision-making processes that drive the organization forward. The ACFO will work closely with other executives to ensure that financial practices align with the hospital's mission and goals, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Financial Accounting and Reporting Department to ensure effective and efficient service.
  • Demonstrate understanding of healthcare finance to impact clinical and financial results.
  • Execute HCA Healthcare's capital asset management process.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of HIM and Case Management/Care Coordination functions.
  • Establish expertise in productivity, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrate competence in hospital accounting, internal control environment, and compliance requirements.
  • Establish executive presence across various situations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related area required.
  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in finance/accounting or public accounting/audit experience.
  • Experience as a hospital Controller preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
