About the position

The Assistant Chief Information Officer (ACIO) for Infrastructure Services at UCLA is a pivotal role responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the university's IT infrastructure. This position oversees a team of IT infrastructure professionals and collaborates with a diverse range of IT customers, partners, and key stakeholders across UCLA. The ACIO will ensure that the technology infrastructure is secure, efficient, and reliable, supporting UCLA's operations and strategic initiatives. A significant focus of this role is to lead the unification of UCLA's network, which includes overseeing network architecture, engineering, field services, maintenance, and operations. The ACIO will also play a crucial role in UCLA's cloud transformation, working to improve and optimize infrastructure and network service delivery. This position is integral to executing UCLA's vision while promoting the university's culture and values.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and implementation of UCLA's IT infrastructure.
• Lead a team of IT infrastructure professionals to ensure reliable service delivery.
• Collaborate with IT customers, partners, and stakeholders to enhance technology infrastructure.
• Manage network architecture, engineering, field services, maintenance, and operations.
• Drive the unification of UCLA's network services.
• Lead the cloud transformation initiatives at UCLA.
• Ensure the security and efficiency of the technology infrastructure.
• Continuously improve infrastructure services to support university operations.

Requirements

• Ten or more years of experience in information technology, infrastructure services, higher education, network operations/engineering, cloud, or related fields.
• Eight or more years of experience in a management or leadership role in a service-oriented environment.
• Demonstrated experience with the design, planning, and implementation of large-scale network infrastructure.
• Significant experience with data center, email, or network consolidation.
• Expertise in infrastructure design, technical architecture, and core enterprise applications.
• Experience in managing technology infrastructure acquisition and expansion.
• Proven leadership skills with a focus on inclusivity and team development.
• Ability to adapt and integrate existing programs or vendor-supplied products in a complex environment.
• Knowledge of technical platforms and enterprise infrastructure strategies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information.
