About the position

The Assistant Chief Information Officer at Rhode Island College is a full-time leadership role that collaborates closely with the Chief Information Officer and the ITS leadership team. The position focuses on providing exceptional customer service, operational support, and strategic technology direction to the college community. It encompasses both leadership and management responsibilities, aiming to drive transformation and enhance IT maturity through agile practices and effective project management.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Chief Information Officer and the ITS leadership team to provide operational support and strategic technology direction.
  • Define and enable operational and cultural components that drive transformation and create sustainable IT maturity.
  • Develop and lead an IT Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Act as an organizational change agent for improving Project Portfolio Management (PPM) and agile maturity.
  • Develop roadmaps that meet the architecture and technology needs of the college.
  • Transform delivery methodologies from traditional to agile and beyond.
  • Support a learning organization model through mentorship and coaching, encouraging training and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that the work of the ITS Department adds value and aligns with the college's strategic goals.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in IT leadership and management roles.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and project management practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing technology roadmaps.
  • Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning within the organization.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education IT services.
  • Familiarity with cyber security systems and learning management systems.
