Become a part of SUNY Oneonta's trusted University Police department as a dynamic and experienced Assistant Chief of Police. In this key leadership role, you will report directly to the Chief of Police and undertake a wide range of command responsibilities. These include overseeing administration, operations, strategic planning, and assuming a critical senior-level leadership role within a comprehensive, full-service police agency. The Assistant Chief of Police supervises and ensures the proper performance of duties across various department branches. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing detailed investigations and reports, managing administrative functions, and executing special assignments as directed by the Chief of Police. In the absence of the Chief, the Assistant Chief will act as the head of the department, ensuring continuity and stability in our operations. You will also be accountable for all matters within the assigned area of operations and any assistance as may be required by a police presence. The University Police Department at SUNY Oneonta, accredited by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, Office of Public Safety, operates as a full-time, 24-hour law enforcement agency.
