About the position

As an Assistant Civil Engineer at NV5, you will play a crucial role in the design and implementation of infrastructure projects in New York City. This position is ideal for recent graduates or those with up to two years of experience in civil engineering. You will be involved in highway and roadway design, grading, drainage, pavement markings, and signage. Additionally, you will assist in the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Construction Staging, develop technical drawings, prepare estimates of quantities, and write specifications. Fieldwork will also be a significant part of your role, where you will gather data, conduct surveys, and observe construction activities. Responsibilities

  • Engage in research, investigation, and design tasks related to roadway and infrastructure design projects for New York City or State agencies.
  • Assist in highway and roadway design and alignment.
  • Contribute to grading, drainage, pavement markings, and signage.
  • Support Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Construction Staging.
  • Conduct studies, develop technical drawings, prepare estimates of quantities, and write specifications.
  • Perform field work for data gathering, surveys, and construction observations.
  • Design flood protection infrastructure.

Requirements

  • A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college.
  • Knowledge of CAD, especially AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Civil3D is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microstation is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent writing skills.

Nice-to-haves
