The Assistant Civil/Structural Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams in creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of projects. This role involves collaborating with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting civil structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs. The projects will include civil structural design of utility infrastructure, such as electrical substations, both overhead and underground transmission lines, pipelines, renewable facilities, and EV charging stations. As the market continues to evolve due to technological advancements and policy changes, the Assistant Civil/Structural Engineer will partner with utilities to design, plan, and improve the modern electric grid. Key civil structural tasks within the group will include the design of both shallow and deep foundations, including slab foundations, mat foundations, spread footings, strip footings, drilled piers, and steel piles. The engineer will also be responsible for analyzing structures for utility infrastructure, including electrical substations, pipelines, and EV charging stations. Additionally, the role will involve analyzing rigid bus systems to assess the structural capacity of insulators and stress and deflection in the aluminum bus, as well as designing oil containment systems for electrical equipment. The engineer will modify and review production drawings for various projects, research and compile project-related data as required, and assist in preparing studies and design reports. Furthermore, the Assistant Civil/Structural Engineer will assist in the construction execution, including the development of construction specifications and cost estimate preparation, while communicating with the design team for specific project requirements. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
