About the position

The Assistant Coach for Boys JV Basketball at KIPP Public Schools Northern California is a part-time role focused on coaching and developing high school athletes. The position involves planning and directing team activities, ensuring adherence to team rules, and fostering a positive environment for student-athletes. The coach will also be responsible for conducting tryouts, supervising athletes during practices and games, and maintaining communication with the Athletic Department and parents.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct the assigned basketball team.
  • Instruct and demonstrate necessary skill sets and techniques for individual and team development.
  • Communicate and enforce team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility.
  • Conduct tryouts and inform participants of final selections.
  • Consult with the Athletic Director on off-season training programs and scheduling.
  • Create a safe and conducive environment for learning and development.
  • Supervise athletes during practices, games, and transportation to events.
  • Model good sportsmanship and maintain appropriate conduct towards all stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 2 to 3 years of high school or club basketball coaching experience required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Valid CA Class C license and current insurance coverage.
  • Safe driving record with a DMV report.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with coaching athletes of different skill levels.
  • Access to reliable transportation throughout the Bay Area.

Benefits

  • Part-time hourly compensation at $18 per hour for a projected 193 hour season.
