Western Kentucky University (WKU) is seeking an Assistant Coach for Men's and Women's Track and Field, a full-time, 12-month position. This role is integral to the success of the track and field programs and requires a commitment to adhering to all rules and regulations set forth by WKU, Conference USA, and the NCAA. The Assistant Coach will report directly to the Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Track/Cross Country programs and will be responsible for a variety of coaching and administrative duties that support the development of student-athletes. The primary responsibilities include coaching practice sessions and workouts, specifically focusing on Sprints, Hurdles, Horizontal Jumps, Relays, and Multis. The Assistant Coach will assist with coaching responsibilities during athletic events and will attend preparatory meetings to implement strategies discussed therein. A comprehensive understanding of the sport is essential, along with a thorough familiarity with all applicable rules and regulations. In addition to coaching, the Assistant Coach will play a vital role in scouting and recruiting quality student-athletes, coordinating these activities with the head coach and the Associate Athletics Director. Monitoring the academic progress of student-athletes is also a key responsibility, ensuring they maintain eligibility and receive the necessary academic support. The Assistant Coach will work closely with student-athletes to uphold standards of conduct, appearance, and behavior, and will perform other duties as assigned by the head coach.
