About the position
The Part-Time Assistant Coach for Men's Basketball at Malcolm X College plays a crucial role in supporting the Head Coach in managing the intercollegiate basketball program. This position involves coaching, recruiting student athletes, and ensuring their academic success while fostering a positive and inclusive athletic environment.
Responsibilities
- Provides skill demonstrations of the sport coached.
- Critiques athletes' performance to identify areas for improvement.
- Assists with the recruitment of student athletes.
- Advises students on athletic performance and personal development.
- Monitors class attendance and ensures athletes receive necessary academic support.
- Assists with the assessment of equipment and uniforms, and makes travel arrangements.
- Helps schedule games, practices, and tournaments.
- Assists with the preparation of mandatory national and regional reports.
- Ensures compliance with the City Colleges of Chicago Athletic Governance Policy.
- Adheres to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of an Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred in Physical Education or related field.
- 2-3 years of coaching and/or professional playing experience.
- Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations is a plus.
