About The Position

The Assistant Coach for Tennis at the College of the Holy Cross is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all aspects of the Men's and Women's Tennis programs. This part-time position involves instructing student-athletes on tennis skills, educating them on NCAA rules, assessing their comprehension, and preparing them for competition and practice. The role requires compliance with all relevant regulations and a commitment to fostering an inclusive environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Prior experience instructing and coaching, preferably at the Division I level.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
• Computer and video editing skills strongly encouraged.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in recruiting student-athletes.
• Familiarity with risk management in sports.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with all facets of the Men's and Women's Tennis programs.
• Instruct student-athletes on tennis skills and techniques.
• Educate student-athletes on tennis rules and NCAA requirements.
• Assess comprehension of skills, techniques, and rules, providing additional instruction as needed.
• Prepare the team for competition and practice.
• Provide individual and team instruction on rules, fundamentals, and skill attainment techniques.
• Offer individualized coaching, tutoring, and mentoring to student-athletes.
• Determine specific daily practice activities for student-athletes based on skill assessment.
• Develop instruction tailored to individual and team needs.
• Attend workshops and training sessions to enhance coaching methods.
• Identify talented, academically qualified prospective student-athletes for recruitment.
• Maintain records and effectively communicate with coaches, prospects, and parents.
• Track academic progress and provide counseling as appropriate.
• Assist with fundraising, marketing, and promotional activities.
• Administer sport camps as directed by the head coach.
