About the position

The Assistant Coffee Shop Manager at Hy-Vee is responsible for supporting the Department Manager in delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service in the coffee shop. This role involves overseeing daily operations, ensuring food safety, and maintaining a positive company image while fostering a friendly and efficient environment for both customers and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, loading/unloading heavy items, and addressing customer suggestions or requests.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to customers, including taking product orders.
  • Takes customer orders at the counter and works with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Handles food safely and ensures the work area is clean and neat.
  • Reviews the status and appearance of food for freshness and anticipates product needs for the department.
  • Prepares and replenishes products as necessary and checks in product, putting it away and reviewing invoices.
  • Runs department registers, receives payments, and makes change as applicable.
  • Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience in a related field.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation courses encouraged.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
