About the position

Fairfield Residential is seeking a Temporary Assistant Community Manager to join their team at Terrena, a property with 402 units located in Northridge, CA. This temporary position is expected to last approximately one month, providing an opportunity for eligible temporary associates to apply for full-time positions at Fairfield upon completion of their assignment. As a leader in the multifamily housing industry, Fairfield has developed and acquired over 1000 communities since 1985 and employs over 1,400 associates dedicated to exceptional customer service in over 30 markets nationwide. The Assistant Community Manager plays a crucial role in maintaining the high standards of customer service and resident satisfaction that Fairfield is known for. Working closely with the Community Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring that the property's revenue and profit targets are met while fostering a positive resident experience. The Assistant Community Manager will engage in various tasks, including accounting and bookkeeping, customer service and sales, and teamwork to support the leasing team and property operations. In the accounting and bookkeeping aspect, the Assistant Community Manager will maintain all property accounting and reporting, which includes collecting and posting rent, preparing financial reports, processing invoices, and ensuring a balanced rent roll. Customer service responsibilities involve leasing apartments, addressing resident complaints, and promoting resident satisfaction and retention. Additionally, the Assistant Community Manager will mentor the leasing team and collaborate with the Community Manager on property operations, making this a dynamic and engaging role for candidates eager to advance their careers in property management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all property accounting and reporting, including collecting and posting rent, financial and leasing reports, month end, pre close, bank deposits and ensuring a balanced rent roll.
  • Prepare monthly close-out and financial reports.
  • Process invoices for payment.
  • Collect rent, fees, and other payments.
  • Complete bank deposits, dispositions, and account reconciliations.
  • Use property management software such as Yardi to record, track, and report on all financial workings of the community.
  • Lease apartments using your leasing and sales experience.
  • Promote resident satisfaction and retention by responding to complaints, questions, and requests in a timely manner.
  • Resolve and address service issues appropriately.
  • Lead and mentor the leasing team, providing guidance on leasing, closing, marketing, apartment files, and resident retention.
  • Work closely with the Community Manager regarding all property operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of residential leasing, sales and/or property management experience required.
  • Experience in leadership and supervising a staff preferred.
  • Experience using Yardi or other related property management accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong math and accounting skills.
  • Understanding of financial statements (budget, financial reports, accounting information, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local fair housing laws and provisions.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Valid driver's license required.
