About the position

The Assistant Concrete Plant Manager at Summers-Taylor, Inc. will assist in overseeing and participating in all plant activities and manufacturing operations at the Mooresburg, TN plant. This role serves as a backup to the plant manager and store manager, and may also take on responsibilities as the yard supervisor. Key duties include scheduling materials, operating plant equipment, supervising personnel, and ensuring customer inquiries are addressed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of approximately a dozen employees, including DOT drivers and yard personnel.
• Coordinate with dispatch and sales teams to optimize driver and plant personnel efficiency.
• Dispatch delivery drivers as needed.
• Manage inventory control by ordering materials, equipment, and tools for daily production.
• Accurately report cash sales, material inventory, purchase orders, equipment rentals, and ticket reconciliation.
• Oversee safety meetings and ensure completion of required forms for DOT trucking.
• Operate mixer trucks, front end loaders, dump trucks, and other necessary equipment.
• Assist walk-in customers and handle telephone inquiries regarding orders.
• Perform additional tasks as required by management.

Requirements

• Preferred experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience in plant production and maintenance, including equipment maintenance and resolving production issues.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Flexible work schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Working knowledge of computer software.
• Valid Medical Card.
• Valid Class A or B CDL.
