About the position

The Assistant Concrete Plant Manager at Summers-Taylor will assist in overseeing and participating in all plant activities and manufacturing operations at the Mooresburg, TN plant. This role serves as a backup to the plant manager and store manager, and may also take on the responsibilities of the yard supervisor when needed. Key duties include scheduling materials, operating plant equipment, supervising personnel, and ensuring efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the supervision of approximately a dozen employees, including DOT drivers and yard personnel.
• Coordinate with dispatch and sales teams to maximize efficiency and accuracy in dispatching drivers and plant personnel.
• Manage inventory control by ordering materials, equipment, and tools necessary for daily production.
• Accurately report cash sales, material inventory, purchase orders, equipment rentals, and ticket reconciliation.
• Oversee the completion of safety meetings and ensure compliance with fuel and DOT trucking forms.
• Operate mixer trucks, front end loaders, dump trucks, and other necessary equipment.
• Assist walk-in customers and handle telephone inquiries regarding orders.

Requirements

• Preferred experience in a supervisory role.
• Experience in plant production and maintenance, including equipment maintenance and resolving production issues.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Flexible work schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Working knowledge of computer software relevant to the position.
• Valid Medical Card and Class A or B CDL.
