About the position

The Assistant Construction Project Coordinator for the Department of General Services (DGS) in the South Central Region of Pennsylvania plays a crucial role in managing capital improvement projects for various Commonwealth agencies. This position involves coordinating construction projects, ensuring compliance with plans and regulations, and providing technical guidance to contractors. The role requires daily travel to multiple construction sites across the region, making it ideal for individuals who enjoy dynamic work environments and have a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing capital improvement projects for Commonwealth agencies.
  • Coordinate projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and regulations.
  • Conduct job conferences and negotiate change orders within specified limits.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to contractors and outside professionals.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Utilize construction software for administrative processes and generate reports.
  • Represent the department in claims and disputes, ensuring effective customer care.

Requirements

  • Four years of professional building construction administration, construction planning, or construction project engineering experience for renovations and new construction of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings.
  • Possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • Willingness to reside in or relocate to Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, or York County.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) construction schedules.
  • Experience with construction projects involving multiple Prime Contractors.
  • Experience writing narratives for CPM schedule revisions and generating correspondence regarding project issues.
  • Experience conducting construction meetings.
  • Experience reviewing or negotiating construction change orders.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Construction Management Software.
