The Assistant Controller Gulf Coast will provide functional, technical, and process leadership insights within the organization. This position is designed to assist the Controller in overseeing and coordinating all organizational accounting functions and activities related to accounting services provided to both internal and external customers. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in implementing the organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency in all accounting operations. In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Controller is expected to assist in various ad hoc reporting requests and departmental projects and initiatives. This includes preparing external financial statements with expedited deliverable dates, managing monthly reporting packages, and facilitating any necessary changes to the chart of accounts across various financial reports. The role also involves active participation in the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes, particularly concerning Gulf Coast Operations. The Assistant Controller will lead monthly financial review meetings with the Gulf Coast and Executive Management teams, comparing budget versus actual financial results. This position will supervise the Gulf Coast Operations Accounting team, including the Accounting Manager-Gulf Coast, and will be responsible for managing intercompany balances and facilitating intercompany transfers. The Assistant Controller will also oversee the preparation and recording of month-end close journal entries, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting. Furthermore, the role requires staying current on regulations and industry news, challenging and improving the company's control environment, and assisting with various state property taxes and sales and use tax. Overall, the Assistant Controller will serve as a leader in software application implementations related to financial or accounting processes, handle special projects as requested by management, and contribute to the development of divisional software solutions to enhance efficiency for both internal and external stakeholders.
