The Assistant Controller at Reeb Millwork plays a crucial role in supporting the Controller and the finance team in various essential functions. This position involves the preparation of the annual budget and quarterly forecast updates, which incorporate historical results and future assumptions. The Assistant Controller will implement a process to record transactions by department, allowing for a comparison of costs incurred to the budget and performance analysis of profit centers. This role requires a thorough review of reports to analyze sales, expenses, and profit projections against actuals, as well as developing strategies to improve profitability. In addition to budget preparation, the Assistant Controller will be responsible for preparing annual and quarterly bridge analysis, coordinating the annual audit and 401K audit, and reviewing and recording journal entries necessary to reflect monthly activity. The preparation of all account reconciliations and other work papers to support the monthly close process and month-end balances is also a key responsibility. The Assistant Controller will oversee the entire monthly accounting close process, including an analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained. This position also involves managing and maintaining accruals for inventory, healthcare, workers' compensation, and bad debt. The Assistant Controller will collaborate with Marketing and location sales management to ensure proper reimbursement for Selling, Promotional, and Advertising expenses. Furthermore, the role includes the preparation of monthly financial statements, including cash flow and related notes, as well as performing cash projections to effectively manage cash balances and maximize returns on excess cash. The maintenance of fixed asset records and coordination of quarterly inventory of fixed assets, along with the preparation of the capital budget and quarterly reforecast, are also part of the responsibilities.
