About the position

The Assistant Controller/Senior Accountant at Kruger Family Industries is responsible for ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the cost accounting system, policies, and procedures. This role is pivotal as it prepares for the transition to the Corporate Controller position in the next 1-2 years, offering significant growth and development opportunities within the company.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly close process including journal entries related to inventory, overhead absorption, calculating manufacturing variances, and month-end costing procedures.
• Perform and oversee daily costing activities including cost rolling and inventory transaction review.
• Conduct periodic analysis of specific margin drivers and develop improvement plans in coordination with functional leaders.
• Assist in the development of financial budgets and forecasting models, and participate in strategic planning to maximize shareholder value.
• Assist with auditor or bank requests as needed.
• Support operations with bill of materials and routings.
• Prepare weekly operations performance measurement reports.
• Participate in Operation Leadership & Business Leadership Team meetings.
• Conduct cost studies and analyses as needed.
• Assist in the development of the annual budget and business plan.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least five years of cost accounting experience.
• CPA desired, in process is acceptable.
• Ability to work in Microsoft Excel, including familiarity with basic functions such as xlookup and sumif.
