About the position

As an Assistant Controller with Real Estate Experience at ProPivotal, you will play a crucial role in our accounting team, contributing to the financial health and reporting of our real estate investments. This full-time position, based in Boston, MA, offers a competitive salary of $150,000 per year, along with a 25% bonus structure. We are looking for an experienced accounting professional who is ready to take ownership of funds and lead our dynamic accounting team. You will be responsible for overseeing the accounting staff assigned to property and/or debt investments, ensuring that all financial activities are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls. In this role, you will manage the monthly closing and consolidation process, analyze budget to actual results, and prepare and review quarterly financial statements and investor reports. You will ensure compliance with Fund/Account partnership agreements and investor side letters, manage investment management fee and incentive fee calculations, and prepare joint venture waterfall calculations. Additionally, you will oversee the preparation of capital accounts and returns calculations, calculate distributions, and manage debt covenant compliance. You will also be responsible for overseeing the external audit process and managing relationships with third-party service providers. As a leader, you will develop and manage the performance reporting accounting staff, ensuring adherence to internal controls surrounding financial reporting and compliance. This position may also involve performing other ad hoc accounting duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee assigned property and/or debt investment accounting staff.
  • Manage the monthly closing and consolidation process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience (7 preferred) in real estate or private equity industry.
  • Experience with financial statements preparation required.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration required, accounting concentration preferred.
  • CPA license and public accounting experience preferred.
