About the position

The Assistant Controller position at Robert Half is a contract-to-hire role based in Branchburg, New Jersey. This pivotal role involves maintaining financial records, ensuring the accuracy of financial information, and coordinating accounting controls and procedures. The position requires full onsite presence and is integral to the financial operations of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the closing of financial records at year end and prepare Financial Statements for audit.
• Review and verify the accuracy of financial information, and prepare necessary journal entries.
• Generate financial reports as needed.
• Review capital project expenditures and prepare vouchers as required.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of grant reports to Federal, State, and local agencies.
• Develop and review internal accounting controls and operational procedures.
• Initiate and coordinate the implementation of a fixed asset module and oversee its maintenance.
• Handle the administration and rollforward of all fund balances.
• Oversee department management in the absence of the Controller.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Demonstrated ability to handle Accounting Functions
• Proven skills in Auditing
• Familiarity with Billing Functions
• Knowledge of Grant Accounting
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
