About the position

The Assistant Controller at Emterra Environmental USA plays a crucial role in overseeing accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This position is integral to the finance team and involves collaboration with other accounting staff to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and standards, including GAAP or IFRS.
• Perform and review account reconciliations, including bank statements, credit cards, and intercompany accounts.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the team meets its objectives.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Lead or participate in special projects as assigned by the Controller or CFO.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or CPA certification is preferred.
• Several years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, with progressive responsibility.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, as well as advanced Excel skills.
