About the position

The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in the accounting and operations department of Robert Half's healthcare and social assistance team in Lewisville, Texas. This position is responsible for managing financial data, overseeing cash projections, ensuring compliance with accounting policies, and preparing financial reports. The Assistant Controller will also supervise a small team of accounting staff and coordinate with third-party firms for audits and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review the monthly accounting close process, including performing an analytical review of operating results to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of all financial reports and statements.
  • Perform cash flow projections to effectively manage cash balances and optimize returns on excess funds.
  • Oversee cash collections on outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Develop, implement, and refine accounting policies and procedures, such as those related to invoice processing, cash management, and vendor payments.
  • Establish, document, and maintain robust internal controls for all accounting processes.
  • Streamline and enhance the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure all accounting transactions comply with GAAP standards.
  • Provide expertise on the accounting treatment of complex financial issues, particularly related to laboratory services.
  • Coordinate with third-party firms for audits, tax filings, and compliance, including preparing supporting documentation for audit fieldwork and financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare financial reports to support pricing decisions and sales/revenue-related analyses.
  • Supervise and mentor a small team of accounting staff.
  • Handle any additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Must have proven experience in accounting or related roles within the healthcare, hospitals, or social assistance industries
  • Proficiency in accounting software systems is required
  • Experience with Concur and Intacct is highly advantageous
  • Must have a strong understanding and practical experience with accounting functions, including Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Must possess a working knowledge of auditing processes and principles
  • Experience in billing functions is necessary
  • Must have a sound understanding of US GAAP and General Ledger operations
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary
  • Must be highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), are required
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professional and ethical conduct.
