As an Assistant Controller, you will manage the day-to-day financial operational functions of the division, including Accounts Payable supervision, corporate and divisional reporting requirements, and Payroll administration. You will ensure Corporate Accounting policies are in place and followed. This role requires leading, coaching, mentoring, and managing individuals and teams to ensure top performance of all team members in achieving desired results while finding efficient and effective solutions that create overall organizational value. You will manage the month-end-close process accurately and timely in conjunction with corporate deadlines, supervise associates' detailed and analytical explanations of variances in actual financial data compared to forecasted results, and ensure the accuracy of payroll submissions and the proper record retention for auditing purposes. Additionally, you will possess a complete understanding of the Accounting Policy Manual and ensure that policies are complied with. You will review Joint Venture, HOA, and Clubhouse financials, be responsible for monthly budget reviews, including land development and job cost reviews, and monitor sales activity through weekly traffic, sales, starts, and closings reports. You will provide weekly and monthly statistical/financial reporting to Division Management and manage projects assigned by Corporate, Division President, or Controller. This position also involves interviewing and recruiting the Accounting team, organizing and prioritizing work activities while utilizing efficient time management skills, and managing statistical reporting, revenue, cost of sales, and balance sheet packages. In this role, you will supervise audits and ensure that associates follow company policies and procedures, making it a critical position within the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or related field required, CPA preferred or combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Three years minimum related accounting and financial experience, including homebuilding experience required.
  • Advanced computer skills - Microsoft Word and Excel, including the use of Hyperion, EssBase, Smart View and JD Edwards.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and writing skills as well as supervisory skills.
