About the position

As we expand our operations, we are seeking a talented Assistant Controller to join our finance team and contribute to our continued growth. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in managing all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with GAAP principles, and overseeing the accounts payable and receivable functions. This position requires a proactive individual who can monitor and analyze accounting data, prepare monthly and annual reports, and present financial statements to senior management. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will assist in budget preparation and management activities, support month-end and year-end close processes, and manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Collaboration with external auditors during annual reviews and the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures will also be key responsibilities. The role includes providing leadership, supervision, and guidance to the accounting staff, performing financial analysis and reporting as required, and executing bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees using our designated payroll software/system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing all aspects of financial reporting, including preparation of financial statements according to GAAP principles
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of transactions
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data, prepare monthly and annual reports, and present financial statements to senior management
  • Assist in budget preparation and management activities
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Collaborate with external auditors during annual reviews
  • Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to accounting staff
  • Perform financial analysis and reporting as required
  • Execute bi-weekly payroll processing for all employees using our designated payroll software/system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation required
  • Proven experience in accounting or financial management
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, GAAP, and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (QuickBooks and/or Intact); advanced Excel skills a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Integrity and professionalism when handling confidential information.
