About the position

The Assistant Controller at Encompass Digital Media is a mid-level management role responsible for supporting the US, International, and Corporate Accounting/Finance teams. This position involves the preparation of financial statements, coordination of international financial reporting, and supervision of fixed asset records. The Assistant Controller will also engage in technical accounting, variance analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting processes.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly financial statements including cash flow statements
  • Preparation of consolidated financial statements and related footnotes
  • Coordinate International financial reporting
  • Supervision of fixed assets records in North America
  • Manage intercompany transactions, eliminations, and Foreign Exchange
  • Document and maintain adequate narratives for significant accounting processes
  • Conduct technical accounting research and prepare draft level white papers for CFO and Controller
  • Coordinate the international accounting close and preparation of consolidated financial reports
  • Prepare accounting memos for significant/unusual transactions
  • Participate in continuous improvement in accounting & reporting and standardization of accounting processes
  • Analyze variances and prepare management commentary; provide operation reports and metrics to operating team
  • Lead ad hoc projects under guidance of Corporate Controller
  • Interact with CFO, Corporate Controller, and Business Operations leaders as a key accounting/finance partner for projects
  • Lead special projects and provide analysis and reporting to executives and operations as needed
  • Proactively create and assist in development and implementation of new templates, processes, and procedures to enhance productivity
  • Work with finance to create the annual budget and cash forecasts
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • 5 - 10 years relevant experience
  • Strong work ethic with high integrity
  • Capable of being both a leader and a doer; continuous improvement thought process is a must
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Superior knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting
  • Advanced computer skills including Excel pivot tables and lookups
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting

Nice-to-haves

  • Public and Industry Accounting (SEC Reporting experience desirable)
  • Big Four experience preferred
  • Significant experience with ERP systems, specifically Net Suite
  • CPA or progressing toward CPA preferred
