About the position

The Assistant Controller at BRIDGE Housing Corporation plays a crucial role in supporting the real estate development team by overseeing HR policies and programs, managing employee relations, and ensuring compliance with employment laws. This position is designed for a proactive individual who can work independently while collaborating with various teams to maintain a positive work environment. The role also involves travel to different properties within the Bay Area as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage intake and cases of employee relations complaints and issues, ensuring compliance with CA employment laws.
  • Assist with general HR questions and manage efficient exit discussions for transitioning employees.
  • Oversee benefits administration processes for enrollment and renewals, and assist employees with benefit-related inquiries.
  • Serve as the primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators regarding benefits.
  • Oversee HR Inbox as the primary manager for all incoming general HR needs.
  • Manage annual and ongoing HR compliance activities, including required notices and reporting requirements.
  • Implement proactive processes to minimize employer risk related to workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Oversee all leaves of absence and provide updates as needed in meetings.
  • Provide awareness regarding training and development options for employees and manage the LMS site.
  • Lead and assist with key HR initiatives, including annual review cycles and employee engagement activities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible HR Generalist experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Communications, or a relevant area.
  • Experience with ADP is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proactivity and ownership of duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in multifamily affordable housing accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles.
