About the position

The Assistant Controller at Methodist Hospital plays a crucial role in overseeing financial record keeping and reporting for the facility. This position involves working closely with the Controller to ensure the integrity of financial statements and compliance with regulations, while also supporting the finance department's overall functions. The role requires a strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, as well as the ability to manage various financial processes and projects with limited oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Completes month end financial statement evaluation, analysis and executive summary explanations.
  • Participates in the annual budgeting process; manages certain aspects of the process, as assigned by the Controller.
  • Oversees the approval and tracking of capital expenditure requests (CERs).
  • Completes special projects as assigned with limited oversight by the Controller.
  • Oversees the monthly, quarterly and annual Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements of the department.
  • Supports the overall functions of the finance department to ensure the integrity of financial statements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Broad knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
  • Advanced level of skill in utilizing common office software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare reports.
