About the position

The Assistant Controller position at Illinois Cancer Specialists involves overseeing financial management and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is responsible for preparing monthly financial statements, implementing financial policies, and providing support to department managers and physicians in understanding financial information. The Assistant Controller will also supervise clerical staff and ensure the integrity of financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Implements financial policies and procedures as determined by management for areas including general ledger, financial statements, and accounts receivable.
• Prepares and supports journal entries for all non-system entries.
• Participates in the completion of the Month End Close Checklist to meet corporate timelines.
• Maintains appropriate internal control safeguards over accounting functions.
• Provides support to department managers, administration, and physicians in the preparation and understanding of financial information.
• Prepares the monthly reporting package and draft of the Management Discussion & Analysis document.
• Analyzes all financial results and summarizes findings with recommendations when appropriate.
• Supervises clerical staff as assigned.
• Reviews payroll data and other analysis prepared by staff.
• Performs EOB analysis as requested.
• Reconciles all bank and inter-company accounts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum five years of experience in fiscal management.
• Three years public accounting experience preferred.
• Healthcare experience preferred.
• CPA preferred.
