About the position

The Assistant Controller position is a critical role within the organization, responsible for supporting the Controller in overseeing the financial operations of the company. This position requires a reliable and detail-oriented individual who can manage various accounting functions, prepare financial reports, analyze financial data, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in the month-end reporting close process, actively seeking ways to streamline operations and ensure accuracy and repeatability in financial reporting. In this role, the Assistant Controller will coordinate and prepare internal financial reports as needed, develop and improve administrative systems and reporting metrics to better monitor and control job performance. The position also involves performing financial analysis to ensure that company practices and billing are compliant with contractual obligations. The Assistant Controller will be tasked with researching and explaining financial and operational issues and variances, as well as analyzing financial data, including cost reporting. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will assist in creating procedures to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the close and reporting processes. This role requires effective communication with operations and leadership to convey cost performance and address any issues or concerns. The Assistant Controller will ensure that all financial transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner, adhering to generally accepted accounting principles. Furthermore, the position involves preparing and assisting in developing audit schedules for any financial, operational, and tax audits, along with handling special or ad hoc projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end reporting close process, looking for ways to streamline and ensure accuracy and repeatability
  • Coordinate and prepare internal financial reports as needed

  • Perform financial analysis to ensure company practices/billing are compliant with contractual obligations

  • Provide support to operations/leadership - effectively communicating cost performance and issues/concerns

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Preference for candidates with an MBA or CPA designation
