About the position

Find your future at National Carriers! We are looking for a responsible and detail-oriented assistant controller to work under the direction of a controller and assist with the preparation of financial statements, budget reports, and internal control systems. The assistant controller's duties also include managing payroll, accounts payable, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial audits. You must be able to work independently and with the highest levels of integrity. To be successful as an assistant controller you should have exceptional accounting skills and knowledge of relevant industry regulations. The ideal candidate will also be well-organized and have excellent management skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee General Ledger, Accounts Payable, and Settlements departments
• Manage the monthly accounting close process
• Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Responsible for financial statement consolidation and reporting
• Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly accounting reports
• Assist with budget development and reporting
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, accounting and company standards
• Provide support for internal/external audits and tax services
• Other projects as directed by management

Requirements

• Professional certification such as CPA or CMA required
• 3-5 years experience as an accountant, assistant controller, or in a similar role
• Solid understanding of GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations
• Good analytical, time management, and process management skills
• Strong supervisor and management skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, vLookup, SunIF, etc)
