About the position

The Assistant Controller position in Wilson, NC, is a full-time role that requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual to lead various financial activities autonomously. This role involves the preparation of journal entries, month-end accruals, bank deposits, inter-company transactions, and other transactional activities. The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in the month-end financial closing and reporting processes, ensuring that financial results are reported in a timely and accurate manner. This position also entails producing ad-hoc in-depth analyses for management, utilizing enhanced data-driven insights that will influence overall business decision-making. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Assistant Controller will analyze key accounts for reasonableness and ensure that proper financial controls are in place to mitigate any control deficiencies. The role includes assisting with internal and external auditor requests and audits, driving accountability with business partners and factory personnel to ensure adherence to critical processes, procedures, and controls. The Assistant Controller will also assist the Controller in preparing the annual budget and monthly forecasts, incorporating key business strategies, return on capital investments, and other KPIs that drive factory performance. The position may involve leading the Capital Funds Request (FR) Process, prioritizing plant capital investments by leveraging IRR, NPV, and payback analyses. The Assistant Controller will develop and maintain complex financial models that illustrate strategic initiatives to plant and corporate leadership. Advanced financial analysis, including economic modeling, cash flow analysis, and concise financial reporting for large cross-functional innovation projects, is also a key component of this role. Participation in and occasional leadership of cross-functional project teams within a manufacturing setting is expected, along with continuous improvement of desk procedures and processes, including documentation, process mapping, and efficiency improvements. The Assistant Controller will maintain strong interactive relationships with plant and corporate business partners by actively listening, clarifying, and responding effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of journal entries, month-end accruals, bank deposits, inter-company transactions, and other transactional activities.
  • Assist the Controller in the month-end financial closing and reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive work experience in Finance.
  • Expert level in Microsoft suite of products including Excel and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA Degree and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or similar working environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP and BI/BW.
  • Strong communication skills and advanced Excel skills.
