About the position

The Assistant Controller will support financial reporting activities and accounting processes for an organization dedicated to providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves collaboration across various internal organizations and locations, focusing on improving efficiencies and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The position will initially report to the Controller and may include supervisory responsibilities in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Controller in financial reporting and accounting processes.
  • Manage timely book close activities and financial planning.
  • Review and design accounting processes and systems for efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
  • Monitor day-to-day financial processes including billing, revenue, and expenditures.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and review of financial statements and reports.
  • Help develop and implement finance and accounting procedures.
  • Provide backup support to the Controller for daily functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, business management, or related field.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong experience with QuickBooks.
  • Above average experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create and communicate through complex spreadsheets and documents.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Some supervisory experience preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in financial program evaluation and management reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of tax planning and asset conservation.
