About the position

The Assistant Controller will play a vital role in managing accounting software systems, ensuring the efficiency of financial services, and maintaining compliance with DCAA requirements. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where precision and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and lead financial statements regularly.
  • Prepare detailed reports for investors regarding the company's financial status.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits.
  • Oversee daily accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and manage cash flow forecasting.
  • Manage fixed assets and oversee depreciation schedules.
  • Analyze financial data to ensure accuracy.
  • Support development and maintenance of cost accounting systems.
  • Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of inventory.
  • Identify and implement ways to enhance efficiency in financial operations.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls.
  • Assist in implementing new or enhanced ERP systems.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff, and manage 1-2 accountants.
  • Report directly to the VP of Finance, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and developing the finance team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or similar discipline. CPA preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Advanced knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficient in accounting software (preferably Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, setting priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
